McMillen, Inc is a full-service engineering, environmental, and construction firm operating in the Energy, Dams, Infrastructure, Natural Resources, and Fish & Aquaculture markets. We contribute to projects from planning and design to construction, start-up, and commissioning.

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with over 12 years of experience in power generation facilities, particularly hydropower design. Experience with turbomachinery projects, hydraulic turbines, pumps, valves, controls, testing, and commissioning is preferred. Candidates should be skilled in preparing reports, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for various equipment.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with hydropower or pump station systems, including penstocks, centrifugal and mixed-flow pumps, hydraulic turbines (Francis, Pelton, Kaplan), and control systems. Additional knowledge of motors, generators, automatic voltage regulation, and station service systems is advantageous.

Experience with water conveyance projects, such as gates, valves, fish facilities, and pipelines, is a plus. The position is full-time and based in the western U.S., including Hawaii or Alaska.

Required experience includes feasibility studies, concept development, and design in water supply and treatment systems, with a preference for surface water intake and pump station design.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide oversight and quality assurance during hydro project execution
  2. Coordinate and observe construction and commissioning activities onsite
  3. Report daily progress, track quantities and costs
  4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  5. Travel 10-20% for project needs
  6. Participate in project meetings

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 12+ years of experience
  • PE License
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong team leadership and independent work capabilities

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $106,000 – $150,000 annually (DOE)
