Overview Merrick is seeking an Infrastructure Leader to continue the growth of an actively growing infrastructure practice in the Idaho market which is inclusive of water, wastewater, surface water, transportation, and land development markets. The ideal person can have focused experience in one of these markets but must be willing to collaborate with others to grow all markets. This key Leader must collaborate and communicate effectively, be courageous and resilient, drive engagement with a customer focus, have interpersonal savvy in building networks, and must be action oriented when adapting to changing situations. The Leader's role will involve leadership of an existing infrastructure team in Idaho. The primary focus will include business and market development and management in several Idaho cities and will work hand in hand with other Merrick offices and markets promoting and providing solutions to infrastructure problems. Merrick is a mid-sized multi-discipline, employee owned consulting engineering firm who prides itself on establishing deep relationships with its customers. The Company's long-range plan is to actively grow an existing infrastructure practice in the Idaho market. Growth in Idaho includes fortifying relationships with internal and external customers, establishing networked business partnerships, and adding/leading key resources to differentiate our services to our customers. This position will be bolstered with support from a 20+ person office in Boise as well as other Merrick offices outside of Idaho which offer infrastructure services including Denver, Colorado, San Antonio, Texas, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Job Description Directly supervise the infrastructure team in Boise and other Idaho office. Managing the team's marketing program and project assignments to attain high quality products. Monitor and evaluate staff within the infrastructure business unit. Provide advice and leadership as needed to attain both quality and profitability goals. Provide, or obtain, the expertise required for each specialty project to obtain high-quality results. Quality control responsibility for all office production. Manage/organize the office for efficiency, e.g., make sure right professional(s) are assigned to specific jobs; appropriate standard contract documents/specifications are available; provide practical educational seminars, etc. Some hands-on direct participation is expected. Lead a local Marketing and BD Program. Be visible primarily in the Idaho market in multiple cities. Review/approve major and/or sensitive proposals. Work with Business Unit management relative to growth, staffing, and financial performance. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an A.B.E.T. Accredited School is required; Master's degree preferred. Fifteen (15) plus years of experience in infrastructure engineering. Experience in 1) water and wastewater engineering; 2) storm water engineering or 3) transportation engineering in the greater Idaho market is strongly preferred. High ethical standards and integrity. Strong interpersonal skills. Idaho PE registration is required. PE Licensure in multiple states is preferred. Demonstrated success in Marketing and Business Development professional engineering services in Boise, McCall, Lewiston, or Coeur d'Alene areas. Capable of directing, managing, and mentoring a multi-discipline team of design engineers or technicians. Committed to quality. Five (5) years of demonstrated successful experience in Business Development and Project Management for municipal projects. Strong technical design experience in civil infrastructure projects. Proven track record of successful project delivery. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Physical Requirements Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted. May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
