Description

Work with clients and project teams on Natural Resource, NEPA, and related technical assignments, supporting business development activities. Tasks include overseeing wetland delineations, natural resource inventories, functional assessments, botanical and wildlife surveys, T&E surveys, permit application development, wetland mitigation planning, NEPA document preparation, and regulatory negotiations. Collaborate with scientists, engineers, regulatory staff, and clients to meet ecological and regulatory requirements, prepare applications and reports for permitting, mitigation, and compliance with NEPA and ESA.

This position is remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

What you'll do

  1. Contribute to NEPA and ESA compliance efforts, including developing federal resource management plans, land use plans, rights-of-way, approvals, leases, policy amendments, and leading NEPA document preparation.
  2. Support planning and execution of natural resource projects, including permitting, field studies, data analysis, and reporting.
  3. Prepare permit packages, technical studies, and supporting documents such as resource reports, assessments, and mitigation plans.
  4. Lead or assist in NEPA process steps, including project planning, public involvement, and decision documentation.
  5. Communicate professionally with clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
  6. Foster and expand client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  7. Assist with proposal preparation, including technical and cost estimates.
  8. Conduct fieldwork in physical and biological sciences.
  9. Lead or facilitate project meetings with clients, agencies, and the public.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in ecology, botany, hydrology, soil science, or similar.
  2. 10+ years' experience with NEPA and permitting, including preparing EAs, EISs, and ESA Biological Assessments within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency contexts, including proposals.
  3. Experience preparing ESA Habitat Conservation Plans and Incidental Take Permit applications.
  4. Knowledge of state and federal protected species programs.
  5. Field experience in wetland delineations, botanical, and wildlife surveys.
  6. Experience negotiating with local, state, and federal regulators.
  7. Experience managing and leading project teams.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  9. Strong understanding of NEPA and environmental permitting processes.
  10. Technical writing skills for EAs and EISs.
  11. Proficiency with MS Office, strong communication skills.
  12. Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests.

Preferred

  1. Master's degree in relevant fields.
  2. Experience leading NEPA documents, including EISs and HCPs/ITPs.
  3. Understanding of agency processes and relationships with federal land management agencies.
