Role Summary

The General Superintendent will develop and execute the project plan and oversee all aspects of assigned projects with significant complexity. This position will be responsible for managing the team, planning all construction sequencing, and meeting project goals. All activities will support the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

This role requires travel and full-time on-site presence for projects across the United States, specific locations to be determined.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Lead safety culture, promote an injury-free environment, investigate incidents, and retrain staff as needed.
  • Manage subcontractors and organize overall job workflow.
  • Oversee company staff, subcontractors, and suppliers, including programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO.
  • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
  • Coordinate project site care, custody, and control.
  • Lead meetings including daily standups and weekly trade meetings.
  • Participate in progress and project OAC meetings.
  • Create and manage project schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Monitor project budget and costs using management systems.
  • Communicate key project information to stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation and logs.
  • Manage material and equipment needs.
  • Support procurement and approval processes.
  • Assist in selecting formwork, tools, and equipment for self-perform operations.
  • Manage timecard approval for accurate reporting.
  • Ensure quality compliance through specifications and QA/QC processes.
  • Support project closeouts and coordinate with relevant parties.
  • Participate in project pursuit and planning processes.
  • Establish field staffing and manage project changes in collaboration with project management.
  • Participate in negotiations and project review meetings.
  • Lead talent recruitment and promote diversity and inclusion.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
  • Manage large, complex projects from planning to completion.
  • Provide oversight to multiple projects and teams.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and develop training content.
  • Deliver leadership messages effectively to diverse audiences.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong work accuracy, communication, presentation, and software skills.
  • Deep understanding of construction management fundamentals, project processes, and specific trades.
  • Ability to build relationships, manage budgets, and apply Lean principles.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience considered.
Experience
  • 12+ years construction experience, including 10+ years in field supervision.
  • Experience with Lean principles and high-tech construction projects preferred.
Working Environment
  • Valid drivers license required.
