ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Business Development Manager is the lead for all commercial and industrial (C&I) accounts and has primary responsibility to strategize, originate, structure, and close offtake arrangements for Clenera's mature utility-scale solar and storage projects.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Drive and implement strategy for serving national C&I accounts, including corporates and large-load customers.
  • Develop and maintain professional network of C&I accounts and partnerships. Travel and attend in-person meetings as needed.
  • Originate and lead negotiations for solar and storage revenue contracts, including but not limited to VPPAs, sleeved PPAs, and behind-the-meter PPAs.
  • Coordinate with origination team, including region-specific origination leads, to track, qualify, prepare for, and respond to C&I solicitations.
  • Partner with broader development team to develop and maintain C&I market analytics including customer/competitor profiles, market pricing and contract trends, regulatory/policy, go-to market strategy.
  • Evaluate and pursue business models to directly meet growing large load/data center demand including but not limited to powered land, behind-the-meter structures, partnering with microgrid/data center developers, etc.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
  • Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development, origination, or sales. Candidates must have significant experience originating and negotiating power purchase agreements to be qualified.
  • Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
  • Skills/Attributes:
    • Demonstrated success in achieving origination KPIs.
    • Ability to effective lead and manage internal and external teams.
    • Demonstrated success in managing relationships with a number of different kinds of stakeholders, especially large load customers and corporate offtake.
    • Ability to analyze complex data and make decisions in ambiguous environments.
    • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
