Job Summary
The Presales Solutions Engineer - Cloud Security is responsible for collaborating with account teams to assess customers' data center environments and design custom infrastructure solutions that meet their business goals. This role includes developing technical relationships with OEMs, training sales teams and customers, managing the solution practice pipeline, and engaging a variety of client contacts to uncover technology opportunities across Data Center, Cloud, Network, Security, and Services domains.
This remote position may require occasional visits to our office in Austin, Texas, as necessary for business operations and as directed by SHI management.
Role Description
- Work alongside account teams to assess and understand customer data center environments and infrastructure technologies.
- Design and propose customized infrastructure solutions aligning with customers' business goals.
- Establish and maintain strong technical relationships with OEMs and strategic partners while staying informed on the latest product developments.
- Provide comprehensive product training and technical education to sales teams and clients.
- Act as a trusted advisor in IT for customers while collaborating with Field Account Executives.
- Oversee the solution practice pipeline by strategizing for top prospects and driving new business acquisition.
- Identify and explore technology opportunities within Data Center, Cloud, Network, Security, Collaboration, and Services areas.
- Develop solutions that are aligned with customers' needs and financial constraints through effective strategic planning.
- Engage with various levels of client contacts, such as CIOs, IT Directors, and CTOs, for thorough account management.
- Train and mentor sales teams on technical selling, product knowledge, services, and technology trends.

Skill Level Requirements
- Intermediate experience with complex Data Center sales opportunities.
- Intermediate ability to design data center infrastructures including hybrid cloud, hyper-converged systems, SDDC, and automation solutions.
- Intermediate knowledge of virtualization technology, hypervisors, and automation practices.
- Intermediate capacity to effectively convey and sell complex technical products based on customer needs.
- Intermediate expertise in mainstream technologies such as Dell Technologies, NetApp, HPE, Cisco, Pure Storage, Azure, AWS, Veeam, and Nutanix.
- Intermediate experience with Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and High Availability Solutions.
Other Requirements
- A completed Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience is necessary.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Willingness to travel to SHI, partner, and customer events as necessary.
- Preferred advanced certification in one or more mainstream technologies such as Dell Technologies, Cisco, VMware, NetApp, Pure Storage, HPE, Azure, AWS, Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity, Veeam, Nutanix.
The estimated annual salary for this position is $120,000 - $230,000, which includes base pay and bonuses. Compensation varies based on knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
