Assists with the management/administrative aspects and has operational control of a range of projects. Works on assignments related to project development and management initiatives, internal operating procedures, business processes and policies.This position will work fully on-site at our campus in Boise, Idaho.Department Overview: We are looking for a supportive and empathetic leader to supervise and manage the overall Administrative operations of the School of Public Service. This position supervises eight individuals who support all of our faculty and professional staff. The school is comprised of a variety of academic programs, including Criminal Justice, Political Science, and Public Policy and Administration, as well as interdisciplinary programs such as Environmental Studies, Global Studies and Urban Studies and Community Development. The mission of the school is supported by a variety of centers and institutes that facilitate research and public engagement.Level Scope: Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. Sets and delegates day-to-day tasks to achieve operational objectives. A portion of time may be spent performing individual tasks related to the unit; however, supervisory activities must constitute a primary part of the job. Supervises unit operations to ensure compliance with departmental or campus policies, procedures, and defined internal controls. Problems typically involve a single area, process or constituent group. Ensures accountability and stewardship of campus resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental standards and procedures.Essential Functions: 60% of Time the Business Operations Supervisor must:•Supervise employees, including making decisions about hiring, evaluating, scheduling/work assignments, work procedures, resolving conflicts and training. Responsible for determining and recommending training needs and planning, coordinating, and overseeing the day-to-day operations. •Directs customer service and support functions. Assists in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans. Lead efforts to recruit new employees with the goal of attracting and retaining qualified individuals. Manages quality assurance programs.•Serves as liaison to other team members, including interacting with managers of different areas of the organization, presenting findings to stakeholders and higher management as well as training and supervising new employees and tracking and measuring staff performance.35% of the time:•Complete yearly performance evaluations of administrative support with input from indirect reports.•Creates, executes, and oversees process development for all of SPS in collaboration with Business Operations Manager and Deans, in order to improve operations and increase productivity.•Triage support activities to ensure operational success•Manages work-load responsibilities for direct reports, ensuring timely completion of tasks with consideration of individuals time off and other campus activities.•Completes tasks as needed to support Team Support in purchasing, travel, compliance, and other student and faculty needs.•Schedules and runs regular meetings for Team Support to enhance training, collaboration, and culture among the group. •Communicates information regarding policy, procedures and compliance to SPS faculty and staff as needed. •Coordinates Space planning with the Associate Dean and Dean of the School. •Develop/implement Onboarding and Offboarding processes for faculty and staff as needed.5% Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: •Ability to multitask and delegate•Excellent oral and written communication skills•Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines•Ability to perform a wide range of duties and tasks•Refined ability to delegate responsibilities and provide leadership and training to key personnelMinimum Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience including 1 year of managerial experiencePreferred Qualifications:•Experience as a supportive and empathetic leader of a team of entry-level employees.Salary and Benefits: Salary range is $50,065.60 to $60,000 annually and is commensurate with experience.
