We are looking for a strong project management professional and leader, who can successfully deliver this large-scale and complex capital infrastructure project in line with APM Terminals' broader project and business requirements.

The successful candidate will draw upon significant project experience to lead a high-performing project team working across several construction, automation, equipment, and integration workstreams. The role spans the project lifecycle from recruiting the project team, design, procurement, construction/assembly, commissioning, integration, and handover.

Day to day, this role will require the use of sound business judgement to set direction and establish priorities, whilst maintaining commitment to the broader APM Terminals “Way of Working” and governance structure which safeguard our values.

Excellent leadership skills are a prerequisite, and we are looking for candidates with a particular focus on collaboration, inspiring and fostering cooperation and teamwork across a technically and culturally diverse business and group of stakeholders.

Develop and execute the project implementation strategy through design, procurement, and construction. Deliver long term sustainable competitive advantage through excellence in delivery. Ensure highly engaged project team, and an organization geared to lift the bar in safety and prepared to deliver projects to the operational requirements on time and within budget.

Ensure that terminal is fully operational, integrated and ready to Go Live as per the project schedule.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Organizational & Project Setup

  • Drive the establishment of APM Terminals' entity in Bangladesh, collaborating with relevant internal functions
  • Define, recruit, and maintain the required project organization for delivery and provide direction and leadership to the project team and support to successfully deliver their responsibilities
  • Lead the project setup, ensuring robust planning and execution frameworks.
  • Be the HSSE leader of the project, fostering the safety culture with all employees, contractors and involved third parties

Project Execution & Management:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including execution strategies, contracting models, budgets, and timelines
  • Continuously manage scope, schedule, and budget to ensure delivery against the business case
  • Direct organizational activities to achieve agreed business targets
  • Provide strong leadership and strategic direction to the project team

Stakeholder & Team Coordination:

  • Ensure seamless collaboration with neighboring terminal organizations to deliver the project while minimizing operational disruptions
  • Maintain close alignment with key internal departments such as Asset Design Engineering, Automation, IT, and corporate functions
  • Oversee engagement and coordination with both internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth project progress
  • Operational Readiness & Integration:
  • Ensure smooth integration of the new terminal with broader APM Terminals operations

Reporting & Governance:

  • Regularly report project status and performance to the Steering Committee
  • Provide proactive updates and insights, reconciling resource and timeline conflicts
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate significant project risks
  • Implement risk response strategies and reassess project value as necessary
  • Timely identification and reporting of scope, timeline changes to avoid scope creep
  • Uphold shareholder risk policies and drive a strong safety culture across the organization and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with APM Terminals' safety, anti-fraud, and anti-corruption standards, working closely with the HSSE manager

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in managing large and complex international infrastructure projects(>200mUSD construction cost), preferably in the transport and logistics sector, such as terminal construction, maritime construction, airports, highways/railways. Previous experience in the Country would be a plus
  • Bachelor's degreein Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
  • Qualified with an advanced Project Management qualification, for example, Association for Project Managers (APM), PMP (Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent
  • Experience in starting-up a project organization.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • Exercise sound business judgment in order to set direction and establish priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
  • In addition to effective interpersonal skills requires a collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork
  • Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment, with an ability to understand the effect of decisions overall in the company
