State Of Idaho Opportunity Deputy Attorney General, Health And Human Services Division, Office Of The Attorney General Date Posted: August 8, 2025 Closing Date: Open Until Filled. Start Date: To Be Determined Upon Hire. Salary: Starting At $43.27/hour, Depends On Experience

Primary Duties: This Deputy Attorney General Position Provides Representation And Counsel To The State Of Idaho And The Idaho Department Of Health And Welfare (IDHW). This Position Works Primarily With The Division Of Management Services Relating To Issues That Arise Within The Contracts And Procurement Team (CAPS), The Finance Department, Facilities, And Internal Audit. Areas Of Practice Will Include Providing Advice And Counsel Related To Division Programs Based On Federal And State Laws That Apply To Government Contracting And Contract Oversight. The Position Works Closely With Other Dags And Other Divisions Of IDHW To Provide Contract Drafting And Analysis, Administrative Actions, Appeals, Review Of Policies, And Advising On Public Records Law.

Essential Functions: + Reviews Existing And Proposed Contracts Or Procurement Ideas To Identify Legal Requirements, Potential Areas Of Risk, And Suggest Strategies For Avoiding Risk To The State Of Idaho. + Interacts With IDHW And OAG Personnel As Needed To Answer Questions, Provides Legal Support In Various Meetings, Both In-Person And Virtual. + Engages With Third Parties And Their Counsel, Both In-Person And Virtual. + Provides Training To Staff Of IDHW And OAG, Both In-Person And Virtual. + Drafts Clear And Accurate Analysis Of Complex Facts Based Upon Thorough Legal Research. + Utilizes Personal Computer Technology, Sometimes For Prolonged Periods Of Time, To Perform Research And Draft Memoranda To Address Client Needs. + Receives And Responds Timely To Requests Through Emails And Phone Calls. + Performs Oral Presentations That May Include Training Or Appearances In Administrative Cases/Court. + Performs Other Tasks And Duties As Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: + Admission To The Idaho State Bar And A Member In Good Standing. + Minimum Two Years Of Relevant Legal And Technical Work Experience Or Coursework. + Strong Legal Research And Writing Skills + Able To Independently Perform A Variety Of Transactional Work. + Exceptional Written And Oral Communication Skills, Writing, Editing, Telephone, And Customer Service Skills Are Required. + Self-Motivated And Independent Worker Willing And Able To Develop Professional Relationships With Applicable IDHW And OAG Staff. + Ability To Handle Sensitive And Confidential Information Appropriately. + Strong Computer Skills And Effective Use Of Microsoft Office, Especially Word And Outlook. + Ability To Meet Tight Deadlines.
