The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is seeking a Director of Data Governance and Operational Analytics to lead the development and implementation of a college-wide data governance framework, ensuring data is accurate, secure, and ready for advanced analytics and AI initiatives.

Strategic Leadership in Data Governance:

Develop and execute a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with institutional priorities and AI-readiness

Serve as the primary advocate for data as a strategic asset across the College

Collaborate with IT, Institutional Research, and academic/administrative units to ensure consistent data practices

Impactful Work in Higher Education:

Lead the Data Governance Committee and coordinate with data stewards and custodians

Oversee metadata management, data cataloging, and data quality monitoring

Ensure enterprise systems support accurate data capture and reporting

Collaborative & Future-Focused Environment:

Supervise and mentor the Business Analyst to align work with governance goals

Promote data literacy and provide training to staff and faculty

Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units to translate institutional needs into data solutions

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement a college-wide data governance framework

Advocate for ethical and strategic use of data across departments

Team Management

Supervise the Business Analyst and guide performance and professional development

Align team efforts with institutional data goals

Data Governance & Quality

Establish and enforce data policies, standards, and procedures

Lead initiatives for metadata management and data quality monitoring

Operational Data Support

Ensure consistent and effective use of enterprise systems

Coordinate intake and prioritization of operational data requests

Facilitate system and process changes to support reporting needs

Stakeholder Engagement & Literacy

Promote data literacy and provide training on governance tools

Communicate governance initiatives to executive leadership and campus stakeholders

What We're Looking For:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

5+ years of experience in data governance, analytics, or enterprise systems management

Experience supervising or mentoring staff, preferably in higher education or a complex organization

Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA) and data security best practices

Experience with data governance frameworks and cross-functional initiatives

Excellent communication, collaboration, and change management skills

Ability to translate technical concepts into actionable strategies for diverse stakeholders

Additional Instructions For Applicants:

Most positions at CWI are in-person and based on campus. While some roles may allow up to two remote workdays per week, eligibility for remote work is determined on a case-by-case basis at the hiring manager's discretion. All candidates must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a reasonable commuting distance from CWI. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
