Job Details

The Application Developer will be responsible for participating in all phases of the development and maintenance life cycle for an assigned business unit, client program, or corporate department. The role involves utilizing various customer technology platforms, developing relationships with the business to understand requirements, and contributing to the development of application scope and objectives. The ideal candidate will have experience in coding, testing, and maintaining complex systems, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to support project efforts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop relationships with the business to better understand business requirements and ensure alignment with technology solutions.
2. Change Requests & Enhancements: Analyze and classify complex change requests, identify potential enhancements, and document findings.
3. Scope & Specification Development: Participate in defining application scope, objectives, and prepare functional and/or technical specifications.
4. Collaboration with Web & Design Teams: Work with graphic designers and other web team members to apply the right marketing-focused content effectively.
5. System Development & Maintenance: Code and maintain complex components of information systems.
6. System Testing & Defect Resolution: Develop and perform system testing, fix defects identified during testing, and re-execute unit tests to validate results.
7. Cross-Department Integration: Participate in integrating activities with other IT departments for the successful implementation and support of project efforts.
8. On-Call Support: Provide on-call support and monitor system performance.
9. Design & Code Reviews: Facilitate small group design sessions or code reviews and participate in vendor evaluations to ensure quality standards are met.

Required Qualifications

1. Education: BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field of study.
2. Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working on one platform; multi-database, multi-language, or multi-business application experience is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills:

1. Proficiency in HP Basic, Open VMS, RMS database, and Python.
2. Strong understanding of system development and maintenance processes.
3. Ability to develop and execute tests and troubleshoot complex issues.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Multi-Database Experience: Experience with multi-database, multi-language, or multi-business application systems is highly preferred.
2. Vendor Evaluation: Previous experience in vendor evaluation and selection would be beneficial.

Certifications

Relevant certifications in Python, Open VMS, or related technology platforms are a plus but not required.
