Main responsibilities:

The Plant Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting at the plant level. This role enforces compliance with internal controls, leads SOX compliance efforts, develops and mentors plant office staff, and partners with leadership to drive financial performance and operational excellence across two or more manufacturing facilities.

The position will be based in Boise, ID or Los Angeles, CA, San Leandro, CA, Denver, CO, Bellevue, WA, Phoenix, AZ, Riverside, CA, Richmond, CA, Tempe, AZ and Hatfield, PA.

  • Ensure SOX-compliant financial operations by evaluating key controls, identifying risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and reporting metrics to finance and operations leadership.
  • Conduct internal audits and maintain strong relationships with Internal Audit and other compliance groups.
  • Oversee and periodically review plant and staff functions to ensure compliance with segregation of duties and internal control procedures.
  • Develop and implement standardized best practices and SOPs across plant accounting functions.
  • Lead the onboarding and development of plant office staff, including structured evaluation milestones (7/30/60/90/360 days).
  • Provide hands-on support and mentoring, including acting as interim accounting manager when needed.
  • Manage the plant front office, including hiring, coaching, prioritizing tasks, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Ensure effective communication and training on changes to financial and manufacturing systems (e.g., M3, Oracle).
  • Train office staff in analyzing manufacturing data related to sales, returns, purchasing, A/P, production, and inventory.
  • Partner with Plant Operations and backstage finance in the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and support period-end close processes, including variance analysis and reporting.
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead the preparation and review of financial reports, including Cause of Change and Earnings, for strategic decision-making.
  • Support federal and state reporting requirements and participate in external audits.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
  • Associate's degree in Business or Accounting required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in Plant Accounting Supervision/Management or 5+ years in Corporate FP&A.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with ERP and Manufacturing systems and reporting tools such as Infor, Oracle, and Essbase Smartview.
  • Experience in inventory reporting, cost analysis, and budgeting (3-5 years).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project).

The salary range is $95,400 to $119,100 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
