Chief Operating Officer

  2025-09-14     Maverick Car Company     Boise,ID
Description:

Howdy, thanks for stopping by!

I have the honor of representing my client, Maverick Car Company, as we search for their future COO / Integrator - if you've ever said, “I'd never work in the car business,” you're in good company. Most of Maverick's 30+ person team once felt the same way, until they discovered a dealership that doesn't act like one.

Founded in 2008, Maverick has grown steadily into one of Idaho's most trusted automotive brands, winning multiple awards and earning over 2000 Google reviews and a 4.9 rating. The difference? No traditionally commissioned sales people, No gimmicks. Just real people serving real people, with a model that works and a culture that inspires.

Maverick is also purpose-driven. Through its JumpStart program, the company provides vehicles and community support to families in need. The vision isn't just to sell cars, it's to become Idaho's most inspiring company and to prove a dealership can be both high-performing and deeply values-centered.

Looking forward, Maverick is planning a major facility expansion, exploring innovative ownership models, and aiming to sell 6,000 vehicles annually while staying rooted in customer trust and long-term relationships. Growth is on the horizon, but never at the expense of culture.

Maverick's founder is ready to focus more on long-term vision, brand, and community. To make that possible, they're hiring a second-in-command COO / Integrator to lead operations, elevate leadership, and sharpen execution. This is not a “clean up a mess” assignment. The team and culture are strong. The pace is steady but ambitious: they're not trying to scale fast, but to grow right, deepening culture and strengthening systems to last for decades.

The Opportunity is to:

  • Scale and run day-to-day operations.
  • Own the P&L, improving margins with better discipline.
  • Drive capacity, accountability, and execution through EOS rhythms (rocks, measurables, L10s).
  • Develop leaders, build careers, and scale the team from ~30 to ~50+ without breaking what works.
  • Partner with the founder on expansion projects (new facilities, new offerings, future locations).

The Right Fit Probably Looks Like This

  • You've been here before, maybe as a COO, GM, or Integrator in a founder-led company.
  • You move easily between coaching, operations and strategy; you can process map one moment and mentor a manager the next.
  • You've led 30–100+ person teams, guiding them through growth phases with both discipline and empathy.
  • You believe in systems and data, but never forget you're leading humans.
  • You can respectfully challenge a founder while still aligning with their vision.
  • You're rooted in (or ready to move to) Boise, because this role requires being shoulder-to-shoulder with the team.
  • Auto/retail/multi-unit experience is helpful but not required—the cultural fit matters more.

This is a legit seat at the table. The founder is self-aware, the culture is values-driven, and the company is already beloved by its customers. This role offers the chance to:

  • Lead an already-strong team into its next chapter.
  • Shape one of Idaho's most inspiring companies.
  • Drive meaningful community impact through programs like JumpStart.
  • Build a lasting business, not a short-term flip.
  • Do purposeful work in a community-focused, people-first environment.

If you've already climbed the corporate ladder and want your next chapter to be more purposeful, this could be it.
