Job Summary: The Free and Reduced Lunch Clerk performs clerical and operational duties to support the district's Child Nutrition Programs, focusing on the accurate processing of free and reduced-price meal applications, managing student meal accounts, maintaining records, and providing essential support to cafeteria staff in daily food service operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in food service, clerical work, or a related field preferred; experience with Infinite Campus or similar systems is a plus.
- Skills: Basic math, data entry, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TO
Nutrition Services Supervisor
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Application Processing: Collect, review, and maintain confidentiality of Free & Reduced Meal Applications (FARM), verifying eligibility and entering data into district/state systems.
- Account Management: Manage student meal accounts, receive payments, track balances, process deposits, and communicate with parents regarding account status.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, generate reports (daily, weekly, monthly), and ensure compliance with state and federal nutrition program guidelines.
- Point of Sale (POS): Operate the cafeteria's point-of-sale system to accurately identify and record reimbursable meals (free, reduced, paid) and individual sales (milk, snacks).
- Cash Handling: Balance cash receipts with meal counts and reconcile daily sales, preparing bank deposits.
- Parent/Staff Communication: Serve as a liaison, answering inquiries from parents, students, and school staff regarding meal programs and accounts.
- Confidentiality: Handle sensitive student and family information with discretion and maintain high ethical standards

EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the food service supervisor and/or building principal in conformance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This position shall be considered in all respects "employment at will". The "employment period" and other descriptions and terms set forth in this job description shall not create a property right in the employee. These are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as the employment continues.
NOTE
All certificated and non-certificated employees and other individuals are required to undergo a criminal history check and submit to fingerprinting.
