Under close supervision (Technician I), supervision (Technician II), and general supervision (Technician III) of the Public Works Director, performs a variety of maintenance to property, pathways, and facilities.
Technician I is the entry-level classification of the job series. The Technician I is distinguished from the other levels by performing work under closer supervision. The work of the Technician I is more routine and requires limited experience, focusing primarily on basic landscaping, janitorial, grounds clean up and maintenance.
Technician II is distinguished from the Technician I by operating with more autonomy, while completing work within City guidelines. This position performs more complex tasks in addition to those duties performed by a Technician I. The Technician II also requires a chemical applicator certification and broader knowledge of mechanical repair and maintenance.
Technician III operates as a Lead and is distinguished from the other Technicians by operating with more autonomy, while completing work within City guidelines. This position has limited project management responsibility, including obtaining bids and quotes. The Technician III is expected to use independent judgment when appropriate. This position addresses and resolves problems and complaints from the public, escalating as necessary.
